Food Express

In 1952, Bill began his career in the food service industry by working part-time in his father’s vending business in Louisville, Kentucky. He next worked for Servomation Corporation, the predecessor to Service America, from 1964-1985, where he was responsible for dining services and vending districts of North Carolina, South Carolina, Southern Virginia, and Southern Georgia.

Reaching the role of Area Vice President, Bill decided to set off on his own. In 1985, Bill created Food Express with a goal of delivering fresh foods through vending and dining facilities in corporations throughout the Southeast.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Jeff got an early start in the food service industry, learning every aspect of his father’s business from the ground up. He rolled up his sleeves and worked every role within the company, not only learning what is involved, but how all of the different processes ultimately fit together to create an outstanding product.

Fast-forward twenty years: Jeff now provides the energetic direction for Food Express, as well as leading innovation as the company expands its service reach and offerings.

Marty’s tenure at Food Express started with managing the corporate office as vice president of administration. He later moved into the role of Chief Financial Officer, ensuring that our financial position is strong and positioned for growth. We knew we made the right addition to the management team with Marty when he joined us 10 years ago—long before he was nominated CFO of the Year (The Business Journal, 2012).

For over 20 years, Billy’s professional career has been tied to the food service industry. His focus at Food Express is on adding the latest technology to the growing company’s already advanced vending service offerings. Under his direction, the Food Express vending services are continually being improved.

Some of the industry-leading technology he has implemented at Food Express includes cashless vending machine payment options, along with wireless and remote monitoring, enabling Food Express clients to always have the very freshest, most popular foods available in vending machines.

Overseeing the Food Express operations in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, Bill uses his 30+ years in the business to bring our clients the very best in food services. Bill’s leadership plays a foundational role in our efforts for continuous improvement, commitment to innovation, and delighting our clients.

Barton started his professional career when his father, Charles, bought a coffee roasting company in 1977.  He describes his father as a great role model and learned many things about business and life as they built the family company together.  Like many entrepeneurs, he learned first-hand every facet of the operation and management.  Over the years they expanded to include Coffee Service and Vending and in 2012 added Food Service when they joined Food Express.  Barton is proud to be a part of this dynamic team.

Carmen is a Registered and Certified Dietitian with The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as well as a MS in Nutrition Candidate at the University of Saint Joseph in Connecticut.  Carmen has extensive experience in food service, community and clinical diet therapy while specializing in the vending and commissary industry.  The goal is to "balance healthier choices with portioned comfort" for overall wellness strategies.  Feel free to contact Carmen with any nutrition questions or ideas!

Since 2003, Karen has worked with Food Express to build great food service teams.  As the District Manager, Karen delights clients with a can do attitude and tireless customer service.  Karen's strong approach to delivering great food and service is based on an extensive career in the food service industry, solid work ethics, leading by example and caring about both the people she works with and the people she serves.

Fred keeps the fresh foods moving at Food Express. He is responsible for the commissary and food preparation for caterings, a role he infuses his 25 years’ experience into daily, beginning early each morning. Fred’s team chops, bakes, and mixes the daily fresh food that is the hallmark of our operations.

Perry has 33 years of experience assisting Vending and Office Coffee clients in the Atlanta market.  His local knowledge of Operations, Sales, Customer Service and client requirements make him uniquely qualified to custom tailor a program guaranteed to satisfy the most challenging location.

Rob has over 20 years of customer service experience with Food Express.  In his current role, Rob is responsible for our Bistro to Go markets as well as the Office Coffee Services.  His vast knowledge of products and equipment ensures that your facility needs are met and exceeded with fresh market foods and our proprietary "Route 66" coffees.

Ken has worked 11+ years with Food Expres in the Vending Services division.  He believes in listening to and understanding what the client wants and needs -- and doing whatever is necessary to fulfill those requirements is most important.  Ken believes that all clients should have an enjoyable experience and receive the highest quality of products and service.

With over 2,000 vending machines to oversee, Harris stays busy  - just as he has for over 30 years - scheduling preventive maintenance and ensuring the day-to-day reliability of each Food Express vending machine.

For over 20 years, Christie's professional career has been in the contract foodservice industry.  At Food Express, she is responsible for maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction in all sectors of the business.  This is achieved through frequent location visits and continual follow up with our clients.  Christie is also responsible for assisting with the introduction of the USConnect Rewards card to our customers.

Shasta has over 10 years of experience in the refreshment service industry in Atlanta.  With her knowledge of vending, coffee and dining services, she assists companies every day in creating a refreshment program that provides their associates with an outstanding workplace benefit.  Her meticulous attention to detail ensures that both the employers and employees expectations are exceeded in creating a refreshment solution for her clients.
